Skye, the Island and Lochalsh extends a warm welcome to all its visitors,
and a special effort is made to accommodate those less physically able or
with disabilities.
The area's businesses and attractions work with the local access panel to ensure that a user friendly policy exists in all locations.
Whilst all the area's businesses, from the larger attractions to the small
B&Bs, will welcome the less physically able, some smaller or older premises
may not be wheelchair accessible, as they were built in or before the nineteenth century. Home businesses, in particular arts and crafts, are often run from old croft houses, where even vehicular access can be problematic!
Disabled visitors and those requiring special facilities, especially in more
remote locations, are advised to telephone ahead, so that specific
requirements can be accommodated or alternative arrangements offered.
An informative booklet, "Accessible Skye and Lochalsh" written by Mike and Hazel Wotton, gives more details. (See Acknowledgements and Links pages).
